Donations
The Department of Communities has entrusted the Lions Emergency Accommodation Centre with providing a service to people who are homeless. Through its Supported Accommodation Assistance Program it supports LEAC with a subsidy for salaries and contributes towards operating expenses. The Department has also assisted with refurnishing housing stock with grants from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund. The ongoing support from Districts 201Q3 and 201Q4 Clubs has been outstanding. Our thanks to all Club members who have worked hard over the years to raise funds which enable us to fulfill the aims and ideals of the Lions organization. Both staff and families appreciate the support given to LEAC. Your contributions do make a very real difference in the lives of the people with whom we work. As well as financial assistance, Clubs, Church groups, private individuals and community groups have also donated to our Centre:
- clothing, linen, furniture and household items (to restock our houses and support families as they return to community
- contributions to our Children’s rooms at the office and Peggy’s Place enabling us to keep their magical environment intact
- celebrations throughout the year and particularly at Christmas – memories for a lifetime
- time and energy in meeting minor maintenance needs
- the opportunity to celebrate children’s birthdays
- interest and enthusiasm and support for our Better Start program.
AND MANY MORE SMALL AND LARGE THINGS TO MAKE LIFE BETTER
